1999 Employer Health Benefits Survey

The 1999 Annual Employer Health Benefits Survey is undertaken jointly by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust. The survey was formerly conducted by KPMG Peat Marwick from 1991 to 1998. The survey tracks changes in employer-based health care coverage. Survey findings are based on a national random sample of 1,939 interviews with human resource and benefit admnistrators from firms with 3 to 5,000 or more workers from February to June of 1999. The survey includes findings on employer health plan eligibility, coverage, enrollment patterns, health plan choice, premiums, employee cost sharing, covered benefits, retiree health benefits, and employers' views about consumer protections and the future of health coverage. The Executive Summary is also available by calling the Kaiser Family Foundation Publication Request Line at 1-800-656-4533(document #1539).

The 1999 California Employer Survey, which was based on the national survey of employers, compares California employers and the health benefits they offer with the rest of the United States.
