This year, the theme of World AIDS Day on December 1, is “Keep the Promise,” which seeks to focus public attention on fulfilling commitments in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  In recognition of World AIDS Day, the Kaiser Family Foundation is releasing several new and updated resources:

Kaiser Public Opinion Spotlight – This new survey spotlight explores the public’s views on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the U.S. and government spending to fight the disease, including newly updated polling data on key questions that have been tracked by the Foundation for over a decade. 

Kaisernetwork.org – The UNAIDS’ sponsored World AIDS Day event at The Cathedral Church of St. John in New York City will be webcast, an interview with UNAIDS Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Paul DeLay, and an interview with Kenneth Cole, fashion designer and chairman of the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), will also be available. 

HIV/AIDS Fact Sheets – Both of Kaiser’s fact sheets, The Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic and The HIV/AIDS Epidemic in the U.S. have been updated with the latest data available from UNAIDS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

statehealthfacts.org – New data made available by CDC to the Foundation are now available on Kaiser’s website, statehealthfacts.org. 

GlobalHealthReporting.org – A project operated by Kaiser with major support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation provides in-depth information and resources on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.  Featured on this website are country pages where recent news stories, relevant websites and organizations, and key reports and country-specific data.  

The Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic: A Timeline of Key Milestones – This interactive web-based timeline has been updated with key events and noteworthy activities related to HIV/AIDS since 1981.

KaiserEDU.org -  Includes a narrated slide tutorial on the global HIV/AIDS epidemic, reference libraries with the latest research and policy analysis, an issue module for students interested in volunteering on the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and a collection of course syllabi from classes on HIV policy.

Rap-It-Up - The public education partnership between Kaiser and BET announced a line-up of special HIV-themed programming that begin on Dec. 1st and runs through Dec. 12.

think MTV - The public education partnership between Kaiser and MTV announced a multi-platform programming line-up of specials, targeted public service announcements (PSAs), free interactive resources, and broadband services to begin airing on Dec. 1st.

We All Have AIDS - Kenneth Cole, in conjunction with KNOW HIV/AIDS, a joint public education initiative of Kaiser and Viacom unveiled the "We All Have AIDS" HIV/AIDS public education campaign.

KNOW HIV/AIDS - Will begin airing a new series of documentary-style television public service advertisements (PSAs) to underscore the relevance of HIV/AIDS in the United States and abroad to all Americans on Dec. 1st and announced a new film competition in partnership with Paramount Pictures.
